An ASUS laptop comes from the company ASUSTeK Computer Incorporated. A Taiwanese multinational company, ASUS stands out among manufacturers of notebooks for being an ODM. ODM stands for Original Design Manufacturer.
This means that every ASUS laptop is built top to bottom from ASUS supplies. Other companies rely upon other ODMs to provide them with such things motherboards, screens, and casings. When choosing a product from this company, a buyer can select either a prebuilt version (an ensemble) or one that is barebones.
Most ASUS laptop designs are ensembles. In these forms, they cannot be customized. There is a large variety of these available so that every customer can find a good match. Alternatively, a barebones version provides room for customization. Some resellers will open up a notebook by this company and configure it themselves. Under these circumstances the resellers must provide their own warranty as it will no longer be covered by ASUS.
