An Apple laptop is part of the MacBook family. This is the range of Macintosh computers created by Apple Inc. Before they all fell under this name, the company offered the PowerBook and the iBook. With these earlier designs, PowerPC microprocessors were used in their computers.
When the company began using Intel processors, new Apple laptop designs fell into the MacBook family. The first of these was announced in January of the year 2006. This was known as the MacBook Pro. It was designed to replace the PowerBook.
The MacBook Pro Apple laptop was more oriented toward power users. The next design, the MacBook, was better geared toward the general consumer. The most recent design has its emphasis placed upon being ultra light. It is known as the MacBook Air.
